How do I activate my Website Maker easy plus account? Start the Website Maker from your desktop by double-clicking on the icon. Now enter the activation code into Website Maker button on the page that just opened. The activation code for your Website Maker can be found on the flyer included.
How do I access my website? You and your friends can access your website via the automatically set up website sub-domain (for example, http://your-name.magix.net/website), which must be entered into the address bar of your browser. If you have registered a website as a Website Maker deluxe or Website Maker easy customer (for example, www.your-name.com), your website will be accessible via this address.
Alternatively you can log in to your Website Control Center at www.magix-website.com and click on the quickstart button "My Website".
I can't access my website. Why not? One of the most common reasons for this is an error typing the Internet address. Please be careful when doing so. Maintenance work may also be a reason for short-term inavailability. If this is the case, an information page is usually displayed. If your site is still not available, please contact our support team at http://support.magix.net.
How can I register my own desired domain name? Contained within the Website deluxe packet is a domain www.desiredname.com as well as 5 email accounts. You can register this name either upon registering your Website deluxe packet for the first time or later on if you wish. There is no domain contained within the Website Maker package. This can be purchased optionally. To register a domain, all you'll need to do is click on the "Register domain" button in your Website Control Center and choose one of our basic packets (only domain, domain + email, etc.). You can then use the domain checker to see if your desired domain name is available. If this is the case, simply follow the instructions on the page and your website will soon be available from your own actual domain.
When will my domain be available? As soon as you have decided on a domain and completed your registration, we will send your domain application to the relevant NIC (Network Information Center). For newly registered users, it can take up to three days for the registration to be processed. Normally, registration should be completed within 1-4 hours. Your domain status can be requested at any time via the Website Control Center at www.magix-website.com.
Note: Even with successful registrations it can take up to 24 hours until your domain is accessible on the Internet.
I already have a domain with another provider. Can I change to MAGIX? Yes, if you already have a domain with another provider, you can easily switch domains to MAGIX using the domain switch form (KK form and provider switch form). After successfully switching domains your MAGIX website can be opened via your old domain.
What is a sub-domain and what is the sub-domain for my website called? Upon registering with the MAGIX Website Maker (independently of the selected package) you will automatically receive a sub-domain (web address) for your website. This is usually called http://your-name.magix.net/website. If you already own a MAGIX Online Album, this sub-domain will be automatically assigned to the website.
This way, your website will be also available online for, as of that time, unprocessed domain registrations.
Can I change the address of my subdomain? Log in to http://www.magix-website.com and click on "User data" in the navigation. You will then be able to change your subdomain via the "Change subdomain" link.
Can I use my website without a desired domain name as well? Of course you can. Upon registering with the MAGIX Website Maker you will also automatically receive a sub-domain for your website (for example, http://your-name.magix.net/website).
How do I set up an email inbox? As soon as you register a domain and email packet (a domain and 5 email accounts are contained in Website Maker deluxe) via the MAGIX Website Maker, an email account is automatically set up. At the start, it is called webmaster@desireddomain.com. You can rename this email account at any time. If you have registered more than one account, you can manage them in your Website Control Center (create, delete, etc.).
How do I start MAGIX Webmail? MAGIX Webmail works like most well-known webmail service (Hotmail, Gmail, etc.). Simply open your webmail account via the Website Control Center by logging in at www.magix-website.com and clicking on the "Webmail" button.
Note: MAGIX Webmail is only available once a domain has been set up successfully.
Why won't my Webmail open? Seeing as MAGIX Webmail opens as a pop-up, it may be the case that your browser's pop-up blocker is activated. If so, please deactivate it. Find out more on this here.
Can I open my MAGIX emails using a different email program. Yes. You can open the email accounts you registered in the MAGIX Website Maker via other email programs (such as Outlook Express, etc.). The mail server address for POP3, IMAP and SMTP is: mail.magix-website.com. The login details for SMTP are made up of your MAGIX email address (webmaster@desireddomain.com) and the password you used upon registering for the service.
How can I change my user data (email address, password, bank details, etc.)? Your user details can be requested at any time via the Website Control Center at www.magix-website.com. Just log in and click on "Your user data" in the navigation bar. Go to "Options" to change your details. Here you can make changes via "Modify user data".
How can I terminate my subscription (Website Maker deluxe & easy)? The cancellation in written form should be addressed to MAGIX AG, Customer Care, Borsigstr. 24, 32312 Lübbecke, Germany. An email sent to shop@magix-website.com. Please note that the cancellation period is 8 weeks before the end of the term duration. More information can be found in our Terms and Conditions.
I have purchased MAGIX Website Maker easy plus. What will happen 12 months from now? If you have purchased MAGIX Website Maker from the shelf, you will receive an email from MAGIX before the 12 months are up. You can then choose one of three options: 1. You continue to use MAGIX Website Maker as normal via subscription for $1.99/month. This will once again be valid for 12 months. Permanent updates and feature advancements are included. 2. You keep your website and switch to FREE mode. The features and web design templates are then adapted to the functionality of the Website Maker FREE version. 3. You can discontinue using MAGIX Website Maker completely. We will delete all your website projects and the relevant media, like photos, videos, music, etc.
MAGIX Website Maker won't start Check that your computer fulfils all the system requirements. Often problems with the Internet connection are the main cause. You should also make sure that the latest version of Macromedia Flash Player (www.macromedia.com) is installed .
Slideshows from my MAGIX Online Album won't play Make sure that the latest version of Macromedia Flash Player (www.macromedia.com) is installed. My videos won't play! MAGIX Website Maker supports the video format FLV (Flash Video). Make sure that your video was converted correctly into this format by the MAGIX Online Album. The easiest way to check this is by playing the video in your Online Media Manager. If it plays there, then it should also work in the MAGIX Website Maker. Make sure that you have the latest version of the Windows Media Players (www.microsoft.com) or other software for playing this file format installed on your system.
When I open the page all I see is an empty screen! Install the latest version of Flash Player.
What are website projects? Website projects provide you with the opportunity of trying out various different templates without having to delete your previous designs. This way you can find out which templates suit you the most and then change them according to your requirements.
How do I set up projects? There are two ways to set up a new project. If your website does not yet have a design, for example, when starting up Website Maker for the first time, you automatically arrive at the selection dialog for a new project (design). If you wish to set up another new project, use the menu and select "New" - "Create new website".
How do I load an already created website project? Use the "Menu" button. Here, select the option "Load". An overview of all your previous projects will open. Select one of these projects.
How do I delete a website project? The current project can be deleted via the "Delete" button in the menu list. If you wish to delete a project which is currently inactive, select the menu point "Load". Here simply select the red cross beside the project name of the project that you wish to delete.
How do I create new websites (subpages) for my website project? You can duplicate and rework pages or create a new page altogether. To add a new page, click on the "Create new page" button in the page overview. You can then choose if you wish to edit a pre-defined page or design a new page ("Empty").
Alternately, you can copy an existing page from your project and edit it later on. To do so, please select the page you wish to copy with a click. Then click on "Duplicate page".
How do I delete websites from my website project? Select the red cross to the top right behind the page you wish to delete.
Why doesn't anything appear when I open my subdomain "http://your-name.magix.net/website"? You have to publish your current project in order to make your website visible. Select "Publish" from the menu bar. Your website will then be visible for all Internet users.
How do I export my website completely and integrate it into other websites? Select the menu point "Export" and follow the instructions on the screen. Use your mouse to select and copy the HTML code displayed. Now you can insert HTML source code into the desire website. That's it! Note: You have to publish your current website project prior to doing this!
How do I export individual players from my website and integrate them into other websites? Double-clicking on the desired player opens the Properties Manager. Set up the player the way you want it and click on "Export object...". The "MAGIX Export" page opens. Copy the HTML source code with your mouse and then add it to your chosen website using a HTML Editor.
How do I change the pre-defined websites (subpages)? Double-click on the page name you wish to change. Then enter a new name for the page.
How do I change the background so that it's the same on all websites (subpages)? Click on "Background" at the bottom of Website Maker. Now the background for all subpages opens. Make changes here that should apply to all pages. Then click again on "Background" to return to page editing mode.
How do I change the navigation so that it's the same on all websites (subpages)? Click on "Navigation" at the bottom of Website Maker. The navigation overview now opens. You can now select a navigation from the object overview and insert it.
How can I integrate objects into my website? In the object overview you have a large choice of objects. Select a category from the explorer tree (for example, decoration). Here you can, for example, search for a new header or enhance your website with animations. Simply drag them into the website window to edit them.
How do I set internal and external links? Select the object which should be made into a link. Double-click on this or click on the Properties field. Then select the point "Links" from the Properties Overview. Now you can set whether it's an internal or external hyperlink. With internal links, simply enter the page to which it should link. With external links, enter the full URL to which the object should link. You can also set whether or not a new window should open. You can also link to an email address.
How do I color in objects? Select the object to which you wish to add color. Double-click on the object or click on the Properties field. Then select the point "Color in" from the Properties Overview. You can set the color (in the palette or as a hexadecimal number) and the intensity/ratio using the fader (left-right). If you use the color palette to color in objects, please make sure you adjust the fader beside the palette to the desired setting as, otherwise, black will be chosen automatically.
How do objects get animated? Select the object you wish to animate. Double-click on this or click on the Properties field. Then select the point "Animation" from the Properties Overview. Select an animation with a click. A preview of the animation can be shown by double-clicking on it. You can then have the animation loop by selecting the loop animation function.
What's the best way to format texts? Use your mouse to select the text you wish to format, just like you're used to from normal text editing programs. Then open the properties field. Now you can use the field with the name "Text format". In it you can format the text (font size, font, color, etc.).
How do I load my own media files into Website Maker? You can access your existing Online Album or add new media into Website Maker by doing the following. In the object field under "My Media" you can choose from "Online Album" or "Uploaded". Select "Online Album" to integrate media from your Online Album into Website Maker. Select "Uploaded" and then the media type ("Pictures", "Music" or "Videos") that you wish to add to your website. Below the window you'll find a list of the media which you have already uploaded into Website Maker. If the desired file is not there, simply click on "Upload" at the bottom of the window and load pictures, videos & songs from your hard disk directly into the website.
How do I set up photo, video or music players? Select the medium for which you wish to create a player. Drag the medium or the entire album (from your Online Album) into your page. A standard player is set up for each. These can then be changed in the Properties field. To do so, simply double-click on the player.
Can I change the pre-defined names of a website project? Your website project is saved as standard with the name "My website X". The "X" here stands for the number of the project created – i.e. "My Website 5" is the fifth project you've created. To change this name, use the "Save As" menu point. Here you can enter the name of your project and confirm it by pressing "OK".
